Introducing our new Executive Director, Deven Michaud

Posted on January 05, 2023

Dear Montessori Children’s School Families, Staff and Students,

It is a privilege to introduce myself as the new Executive Director of the Montessori Children’s School. Over the past month I have had the pleasure to spend time at your beautiful school, meet the board, staff and many of your students. I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am to not only join this wonderful school community but get to know each and every one of you more!

With that being said I am sure you are wondering who I am and how my journey has led me here. I graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s degree in Disability Services and a minor in Special Education. Shortly after graduating I found a job at a non-profit residential treatment facility serving children and teens with Autism. It was there that I quickly found my passion working with children, I wanted nothing more than to help not only the children in my care, but their families as well. After a year of working I decided to go on and get my master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from Ball State University. After graduating I was lucky enough to become a Director at the same facility that helped me get my start.

My experiences led me to a position as a Program Manager of a non-profit education program for children with Autism. There, I worked with and managed a team of teachers, teaching assistants and therapists to get the students we served the best education possible. In addition to that my team and I strived to help their families find the resources they needed to find solutions and thrive. I believe that a team consists of not only the teachers and staff, but the whole family system, and only when we work together can we truly reach our goals.

In addition to my work as a leader, educator and team member, something that has always been important to me is being a Cleveland sports fan (unfortunately at times)! I also enjoy spending time with my husband and our two dogs, being in nature, spending quality time with my siblings, father, nephews and niece.

I describe myself as a life-long learner and can’t wait to learn more from this community’s parents, students and staff. I am honored to be the Director of such an inspirational, innovative and caring school community.

Please know that I am open to any and all questions, my door is always open! I am a firm believer that communication and an open mind helps to create an environment that opens doors to a wealth of opportunities.

I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season and I cannot wait to meet you all.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Deven Michaud
