Ms. Crissy – lower Elementary Assistant
Ms. Crissy joined MCS three years ago and brings warmth, humor, and an appreciation for nature to her role as an Elementary Assistant. Watching students grow, gain confidence, and develop their own sense of humor is her favorite part of each day. Although she loves working with elementary students, Ms. Crissy also finds joy in the littlest ones at MCS, saying she could easily have raised “10 more kids” with her love for children!
With a degree in Health Education and a minor in Interpersonal Communication from Ohio University, Ms. Crissy initially envisioned a career in public health, but her path shifted when she started her own family in Avon Lake. She spent seven years teaching at a non-Montessori preschool and joined MCS on the recommendation of a former colleague. Drawn to the Montessori philosophy and the school’s commitment to hands-on learning, she quickly discovered that it aligned with her own parenting style.
A nature enthusiast, Ms. Crissy treasures MCS’s status as a WILD School and encourages children to appreciate the world around them, hoping they choose nature over screens. Her teaching style emphasizes listening, empowering students to express themselves, and finding humor in everyday life—a quality her husband says matches her “teenage sense of humor!”
Outside of school, Ms. Crissy loves spending time with her family, cooking for friends (especially her specialty, chicken paprikash soup), hiking, and watching for shooting stars. She is the youngest of eight siblings, a roller-coaster enthusiast, and even has bungee jumping on her list of adventures!
Ms. Crissy’s “secret sauce” is her ability to listen to students and recognize the importance of their voices. She hopes to help them grow into confident individuals who can express themselves and stand up for what they believe long after their time at MCS.
