Ms. Kathleen – Preprimary Assistant
Ms. Kathleen brings creativity, empathy, and a sense of community to her role as a Preprimary Assistant at MCS. She treasures the chance to witness her students’ growth, celebrating their milestones and unique journeys throughout the year. For her, Montessori feels like home: she attended a Montessori school as a child and spent summers exploring classrooms with her sisters, inspired by her mother’s connection to the Montessori world.
With a degree in Graphic Design and Marketing from Syracuse University, Ms. Kathleen’s creative spirit shines in her work with young learners. She loves the sense of ownership and community that Montessori fosters in children, and nothing brings her more joy than seeing a child’s pride when they master a new skill, whether it’s writing their name or completing a challenging number board.
Outside the classroom, Ms. Kathleen is an accomplished calligrapher and enjoys practicing her lettering while listening to podcasts. She also loves skiing and can’t wait to hit the slopes with her husband and their two-year-old daughter, Cora. And here’s a fun fact: she holds a class M motorcycle license!
Ms. Kathleen’s approach to teaching emphasizes the power of connecting with children on their level, both physically and emotionally. Her goal is to be a supportive presence for her students and lead teacher, creating a space where everyone feels valued and inspired. Currently, she’s working toward a Certificate of Proficiency in script handwriting through the International Association of Penmen and Teachers of Handwriting, adding yet another dimension to her dedication to the Montessori method.
