Ms. shirley – preprimary Assistant

Step into Ms. Shirley’s Pre-Primary classroom, and you’ll sense the hum of discovery and joy that defines her approach to Montessori education. As an assistant in Ms. Nicole’s class, Ms. Shirley thrives on the small moments that make a big impact—watching students grow in confidence, conquer challenges, and build connections with their peers.

Ms. Shirley’s introduction to Montessori came during her Early Childhood Education studies, where she discovered this innovative approach to learning. Inspired by its focus on independence and individualized growth, she chose Montessori for her oldest child’s toddler and preschool years. The experience left a lasting impression and ignited her passion for bringing the Montessori philosophy to life for other children.

With a BA in Business Marketing from the University of Toledo and Early Childhood Education coursework completed at Ashland University, Ms. Shirley combines her educational background with a natural talent for nurturing young learners. Her Montessori philosophy centers on empowering children to grow at their own pace, fostering independence, and celebrating every step of their journey.

Working with Pre-Primary and Kindergarten students, Ms. Shirley finds daily inspiration in their curiosity and creativity. “Seeing the excitement in their eyes when they master a new skill or make a new friend is the best part of my role,” she shares.

Outside of the classroom, Ms. Shirley is an adventurer and creator. She loves traveling, attending live performances, diving into a good book, and spending quality time with her family. A talented crocheter, she pours love and creativity into handmade gifts for friends, family, and coworkers—a testament to her thoughtful nature.

Ms. Shirley’s dedication to fostering a warm, encouraging environment makes her an invaluable part of the MCS community. Her belief in each child’s potential ensures that every day is filled with growth, exploration, and a little bit of magic.
