Make an
impact today

Support our mission to expand our MCS library by contributing a donation.

While there's something magical about a well-loved book, it's equally important that our library keeps up with the times. By updating our collection, we ensure that students have access to new, relevant, and engaging books that reflect modern topics, interests, and educational resources. Today’s world is evolving, and our students deserve materials that resonate with their experiences and help them navigate the world around them. New books ensure our library remains a dynamic, living resource for discovery and growth.

Why give?

  • Support Literacy and Learning:
Investing in the library means providing students with access to a wide range of books that foster critical thinking, creativity, and a love for reading.

  • Expand Book Diversity:
Your contribution helps us curate a library that reflects diverse cultures, experiences, and perspectives, helping children see themselves and others in the stories they read.

  • Build a Lifelong Love for Reading:
Access to captivating, age-appropriate books can spark a lifelong love for reading in children, setting them on a path of curiosity and exploration.

  • Enhance Montessori Learning:
New books support the Montessori philosophy of self-directed learning, giving students resources that encourage independent research, reading, and reflection.

  • Create a Lasting Legacy:
Contributions to the library are investments in future generations. Your donation helps build a collection that will benefit not just today's students but tomorrow's as well.

  • Strengthen the MCS Community:
A thriving library becomes a communal hub of learning for the entire school, enriching both classroom learning and family reading at home.

“A library isn’t just a place for books—it’s a portal to curiosity, a sanctuary for wonder, and a launchpad for endless adventures and discovery. Few things compare to the joy in a child’s eyes when they find a book that feels like it was written just for them!”

 FAQs

  • Rest assured, the well-loved books that have been part of the MCS library won’t be going anywhere! While we are excited to bring in new, updated books, our existing collection will remain a cherished part of the library. These classics and familiar favorites will continue to inspire our students, offering a beautiful blend of old and new.

To keep our collection relevant and organized, we’ll carefully review the current inventory, replacing any damaged or outdated books that no longer serve our students' needs. If any books are retired from circulation, we will explore options like creating a “Free Little Library” for families to take home or donating them to community programs that can give them a new life.

We are committed to preserving the heart of our library while expanding it to meet the evolving needs of our students.

  • Donations can be made via cash, check (made payable to MCS with 'Library Fundraiser' in the memo), or online through our secure platform [link here-if we can set up something like this].

  • While we always welcome donations—and love a good birthday book donation from our MCS students—during the building phase of our new library, we especially appreciate monetary contributions. This allows us to purchase high-quality books that align with our curriculum and best meet the needs of our students.

If you have suggestions for specific titles or genres, we’d love to hear them! Please send your recommendations to jbays@mcswestlake.com.

Thank you for your generosity and support!

  • Our teachers and library staff will work together to carefully curate a diverse collection of books that support the Montessori curriculum, promote diversity and inclusion, and engage students’ interests at every age level.

  • The new books will serve all age groups at MCS, from toddlers to lower elementary students. Our goal is to provide a range of books for different reading levels, interests, and developmental needs.

  • Yes, MCS is a non-profit organization, and all donations to the library fundraiser are tax-deductible. We can provide you with a donation receipt upon request.

  • Every dollar raised will still go directly to expanding our library, even if we don’t reach the full $5,000 goal. Every contribution makes a difference in growing our library resources.

  • Once the fundraiser concludes and the donations are processed, we will begin purchasing new books right away. We aim to have the updated collection in place as soon as possible, likely within the next few months.

  • Absolutely! We encourage anyone with a connection to MCS or a love for education to contribute to the fundraiser. Feel free to share the donation link with family, friends, and alumni.

  • We will keep everyone updated through our newsletters and social media with milestones and results, including how the funds were used and the impact the new books are having on our students.
